VCTC selects Lupe Acero as new finance director

CAMARILLO, Calif. – The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) is pleased to announce that Lupe Acero has been selected as the agency’s new director of finance, effective Feb. 18.

Acero will lead VCTC’s Finance Department, which is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting functions, including cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, budgeting, and financial and investment reports. The Finance Department also prepares and monitors VCTC’s budget, provides budgetary assistance to project managers, and oversees multiple state and federal audits throughout the year. In Fiscal Year 2024/25, VCTC had a balanced budget of approximately $131.6 million, with no debt obligations.

Acero was selected after a comprehensive candidate search and interview process. She joins VCTC from the City of Port Hueneme, where she has served as finance director for five years. Before that, she served as accounting manager for Duffy Kruspodin, LLP, and controller for McDonald’s USA.

“I am excited to join the VCTC team,” Acero said. “I am looking forward to being part of this vibrant organization, and I look forward to helping the Commission maintain financial health and continue to excel in delivering programs and projects that serve the residents and community of Ventura County.”

Executive Director Martin Erickson said, “I am thrilled to welcome Lupe Acero to the VCTC team. With her strong experience in accounting and finance, I’m certain she will continue VCTC’s established practice of safeguarding the Commission’s assets while maintaining strong fiscal controls.”
